20 years. One name on the sign.
Mikhail Builders is Mikhail Tikhonov’s company. For two decades he has been building in and around Asheville — ground-up custom homes, whole-house renovations, exterior and interior upgrades, hardscapes and commercial upfits.
Mikhail and his wife Alena are raising eight children in the same mountains we build in. It is a fair summary of how we treat a client’s house: as somewhere a family is going to live for a very long time.

Most construction headaches come from one thing: nobody told the owner what was happening. Our process is built to make sure that never happens.

Walk the site
We meet you where the work will happen, look at the real conditions and talk through what you actually want — no sales pitch.

Design together
Plans, selections and engineering developed with you, priced as they are drawn — so the design never outruns the budget.

Fixed scope & schedule
A written, itemized estimate and a real calendar. Permits pulled and trades booked before the first shovel goes in.

Build
One team, one point of contact, regular photo updates, and a clean site at the end of every day.

Walkthrough & handover
We walk it with you, finish every item on the punch list, and hand over warranties and manuals at close.
What does design & build mean?
One company carries your project from the first sketch to the final walkthrough. Design, pricing and construction happen together, so there is no gap between what was drawn and what can be built for the budget — and one team is accountable for all of it.
What areas do you serve?
We are based in Arden and have built across Asheville for 20 years — including Arden, Fletcher, Hendersonville, Biltmore Forest, Fairview, Black Mountain, Weaverville, Candler and Mills River. If you are a little further out, call and ask.
Do you take on renovations as well as new homes?
Yes — major renovations are a large part of our work: second-story additions, structural steel and open-plan conversions, full exterior re-clads, kitchens and baths. We also build porches, decks and hardscapes on their own.
Do you do commercial work?
We do commercial upfits and tenant build-outs — framing, ceilings, flooring and finishes — scheduled around your opening date.
How much will my project cost?
It depends on scope, finishes and site conditions, so rather than quote a meaningless range we walk the site with you and follow up with a written, itemized estimate. You see what drives the number and can adjust before committing.
